The India Plastics Pact (IPP), managed by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development, is a joint initiative that brings together businesses across the plastic products lifecycle to tackle plastic pollution. Through Stewart Investors funding, WRAP supports the CII team running the India Plastics Pact offering regular technical advice and guidance to help ensure the pact’s success. India’s packaging market is dominated by films and flexible materials, which make up about 75% of the market. These are often made from multiple materials, making recycling difficult. To help the IPP’s goals, a trial project aims to shift from complex, multi-material plastic packaging to more recyclable alternatives. WRAP, in partnership with CII and funding from Stewart Investors, will manage the trials, offer technical expertise, and share the results to encourage broader adoption of recyclable packaging in India.
